We're serious about rescue
Always passionate about animals, Kelly fell in love with her first pit bull in 2006.
She began to volunteer at MCHS, and then MCASAC shelters, working with difficult to handle dogs, studying behavior and training specific dogs to make them more adoptable. She also joined OPH rescue and was the lead for developing the rescue in Montgomery County, MD. In 2008, she began to rescue and rehabilitate pit bulls and still does so today. Kelly became the “Pit Bull Mentor” for students struggling with their (mostly rescued) pit bulls.
In this spirit of helping dogs, Kelly to this day ensures to support rescues by sponsoring foster dogs in classes and teaming up with rescues for adoption events. She's also built a team whose members share her dedication and passion to support rescues.

Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3)
No Pittie Left Behind
P3 is a united rescue effort to both save pitties and support veterans. At P3 we LOVE Pitties & we LOVE & RESPECT our Veterans! 2800 Pitties & Pittie Mixes are euthanized in overcrowded shelters every day, over 1 million every year. 22 Veterans commit suicide every day, over 8,030 per year. At P3 we find these numbers UNACCEPTABLE!
P3 was created in March of 2024 with the goal of rescuing Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes from overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia and providing the necessary training for them to provide emotional support, nightmare alerts, and pressure therapy during episodes of anxiety and stress so they can be paired with a Veteran struggling with PTSD reducing the risk of Veteran suicide. While we support our Veterans, our rescue is not limited to the placement of service dogs for Veterans only. Our Veterans program is only one aspect of what we do. We want to help EVERY pittie find the perfect furever family!

A Home of Their Own Rescue
A Home of Their Own (AHOTO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.
AHOTO was formed when a group of people with decades of experience in animal rescue decided they wanted to make it easier for people to adopt animals and for animals to find their forever homes.
AHOTO is different. At AHOTO, we are committed to saving as many dogs and cats as we can while also striving to find the best possible forever homes for each and every dog and cat in our care. We work with applicants to find the right pet for them which, in turn, allows us to find a great fit for that dog or cat.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats adopted from us doesn’t end once the adoption contract is signed. We offer education, training, outreach, and the support needed to create a community of happy adopters and their pets.
